In 2008 VCE introduced EV4U Custom Conversions. In the following pages we
convert a standard 1974 Volkswagen Beetle to run on batteries, with the objective
to have a non-polluting, rechargeable electric vehicle, that when finished will be our
show and marketing vehicle. This site chronicles the transformation from an old
Bug to a modern "green" commuter. This is covered in three parts. Part I we
introduce the project, the vehicle, and preparation for the conversion. Part II details
the conversion process from gasoline powered to battery power. In Part III, we will
restore the vehicle with new paint, interior, trim and custom accessories. (In
